CLUB HISTORY
1 April 1989 is a date marked in History! It was the day where the Italian Bowling Club of Linbro Park and the Italian Sporting Club of Bedfordview (Olympia Football Club) as well as their Members were unified as one Club.

This amalgamation signified the unification of the Italian Community after many years of feuding. The new club was named the Italian Club Johannesburg.
In March 1992 the Clubs Committee and Members decided that a new face-lift was required. In true Italian style, the 1 400 Members agreed to contribute financially to carry out the project.
This intervention allowed for the creation of a conference hall that would cater for 150 people, modifications to the main hall (the Sala Verdi), and the creation of an A La Carte Restaurant – Il Terrazzo. These alterations meant that the club was able to cater for 700 patrons at any one time.
A concrete Port Cochere structure was added to enhance the Main entrance of the Club. Various plaques adorn the main entrance of the Club that highlight various key events held at the Club, including the visit made by the then President of the Republic of Italy, Carlo Azelio Ciampi in 2002.
Now, more than two decades later, the Club has become home to more than just the Italian community, through the Il Terrazzo Ristorante, Coffee Bar, Children’s Party’s, Conference Facilities, Private and Corporate Functions, Schools and Sporting Facilities.
At the Italian Club Johannesburg, not only have we cultivated and continued the authentic Italian experience through events held at the Club with our Family of Members and Patrons; but we have also been able to share our traditional home cooked meals from the SetteBello restaurant with them.
